Testimonial
I have been using Hazel for close to 20 years and have recommended her to nearly everyone I know, friends and family. I think that says it all. From 5k runs to ironman and everything in between, she has put my body back together time and time again. Her diagnostics of injuries is second to none and her passion to fix her patients is infectious. I'm a huge supporter and can't recommend her highly enough.

A Truly Holistic Vision
A message from the founder, Hazel Amper
“As I've progressed through my 30 years of working with injured bodies, I've been able to bring together the perfect solution to pain and injury. Depending on the Physiotherapy diagnosis (what is truly wrong with your system) everyone needs different things and different treatments, rehab options at different times of their healing and recovery process. Then you achieve real and fast success. Careful diagnosis and a bespoke and targeted plan of action.
So the Back Lab was founded to bring together
-
Physiotherapy
-
Rehab & Strength Training
-
Bodywork & Mobility
-
Therapeutic Massage
-
Strength Classes
And all delivered through one intelligent, integrated system.
Every service is guided by the same principles:
-
Remove the barriers of pain and dysfunction
-
Provide cutting edge assessments and treatments
-
Treat the cause, not just the symptom
-
Build progressive and safe strength, from the inside out
-
Create change through knowledge
-
Support the whole person — physical, mental, and emotional
You’ll work with a team of highly skilled physiotherapists, rehab specialists, and massage therapists, each dedicated to helping you move better, feel stronger, and live pain-free.
Our mission is simple:
"To help every patient find their weakest links and use our expertise of anatomy, dysfunction and cutting edge exercise science to re-build their body to re-discover how strong and capable their body can be. And resilient for a healthy future”

Hazel Amper MCSP SRP
Lead Physiotherapist | Clinical Specialist | Founder of The Back Lab
With over 30 years of clinical experience, Hazel Amper has dedicated her career to helping people move better, feel stronger, and live without pain.
A specialist in spinal health and musculoskeletal rehabilitation, Hazel combines deep anatomical knowledge with advanced rehabilitation science to deliver care that is precise - you get your exact diagnosis and treatment methods are targeted to your problem: effective - to save you unnecessary appointments and get fixed fast, and life-changing.
Over three decades, Hazel has worked across leading private clinics and multi-disciplinary teams, refining a model of care that blends:
-
Specialist spinal physiotherapy
-
Whole-body assessment & biomechanics
-
Advanced manual therapy & clinical exercise
-
Neuromuscular re-education & postural correction
-
Strength and conditioning principles tailored to rehabilitation
This unique integration inspired the creation of The Back Lab — a clinic and studio designed to deliver exceptional physiotherapy, spinal programmes, and functional movement training under one roof.
Hazel is the also founder of Back Lab’s signature 3-week Back Boot Camp — an intensive, one-to-one rehabilitation programme designed to eliminate back pain and restore functional movement. The Boot Camp brings together medical expertise, scientific exercise programming, and neurological re-wiring, creating a lasting transformation in how patients move and feel.
-

A holistic view and patient connection
Hazel’s approach includes but goes far beyond, just treating symptoms. She takes a head-to-toe view, identifying the weak links and faulty movement patterns that lead to pain, injury, and instability. Her treatments relieve discomfort — and retrain the body to move efficiently, building lasting strength and resilience.
Every session is guided by detailed assessment, clear diagnosis, and evidence-based intervention. She regularly reviews progress and re-tests to ensure the best pathway to successful treatment. Hazel’s patients leave not only with relief, but with a clear understanding of their condition — and a plan to prevent it returning.
“I am truly passionate about people not having to live with back pain, injuries and a body that doesn’t feel like it’s functioning. There is an enlightening amount of detail to look at during the assessment – which comes up with so many answers as to what can be done, and enables the physiotherapy to be so much more targeted and effective. Patients are always fascinated when I explain to them how their body is performing in terms of their genetic predisposition, posture, biomechanics, muscle and joint testing, and how this manifests as their pain, injury or lack of mobility. It is a paramount part of my service to fully impart the reasoning behind my conclusions as I think it is wonderful for patients to meet their own body and fully understand how they are designed and built. This knowledge will allow patients to understand every logical step of their treatment plan – ‘what and why’, as well as, have a lifetime, going forwards with a totally new perspective and that they can be in control of their own body and health.
My job is to take very good care of my patients, to feel in safe and knowledgeable hands with full confidence that we can achieve their goal.

A Reputation Built on Results
