Clarity, Science, Care
We believe exceptional physiotherapy is built on clarity, science, and care: A detailed assessment, precise diagnosis, and scientific rehabilitation.
Every session is designed to immediately help your symptoms and uncover the why behind your pain and guide your body back to optimal function.
Our Treatment Principles at The Back Lab, we:
🔹 Strongly believe that a solid, professional assessment will uncover the answers to your cure. We thoroughly listen and we thoroughly test.
🔹 Fully understand the science of healing which is imperative in our decision making process.
🔹 Fully appreciate that experienced hands can make all the difference and only provide you with the best treatment.
🔹 Treat the cause, not just the symptom – addressing the deeper dysfunctions driving your pain
🔹 See the body as one system – understanding how compensations and imbalances create overload elsewhere
🔹 Use movement as medicine – teaching you how to move efficiently, not just how to stretch or strengthen
🔹 Empower through education – giving you the tools and knowledge to maintain your results
🔹 Combine medical expertise with rehabilitation science – bridging the gap between therapy, exercise, and performance 🔹 Deliver excellence through experience – every treatment is rooted in 30 years of clinical insight and patient success

Comprehensive & Targeted
Your first session includes a comprehensive Physiotherapy Assessment, where we’ll:
-
Listen to your history and concerns
-
Examine your posture, mobility, and movement patterns
-
Perform specialist tests to pinpoint the true cause
-
Begin hands-on treatment straight away
-
Create a tailored plan to achieve lasting results
You’ll leave with a clear understanding of your condition and a roadmap to recovery.
The Assessment And Testing
Depending on your specific injury and your goals of treatment, we will decide which type of testing will be the most appropriate and relevant. We are experienced to know every test for your condition.
Injury testing
-
The specific area of your pain or injury
-
Is there damage to your body’s tissue
-
Do you have inflammation present as a result of the injury (what stage of the healing process)
-
Special testing is carried out for joints, cartilage, nerves, ligaments, muscles and tendons
Head-to-Toe Analysis
If there is a chronic, accumulative background to your condition, we will conduct a full body assessment, looking at every layer of you. We are looking to identify weak links, faulty movement patterns, and overload points and which elements of you, require fixing to allow a return to normal
-
We check your anatomical alignment and if you deviate from neutral in standing and during movement.
-
Is your movement compromised by your injury & are you compensating for this
-
Head to toe, joint testing - is everything moving normally. Are you hypermobile (excess movement) or are you blocked or 'stuck' (hypomobile).
-
In-depth muscle testing - are your muscles activated or dormant, relaxed or tight from being over dominant. Are they able to perform their jobs for functions of your work, life or sport.
and
-
Do you require further investigations such as x-rays or scans, do we need to refer you to an orthopaedic consultant.
When we know exactly what needs to be taken care of, we get straight to fixing you.
